Peggi M Angel, Ph.D.

Dr. Peggi Angel is a tenured Professor in the Department of Pharmacology & Immunology at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Angel has over 22 years’ experience in industry and academia leading assay development in automation, drug formulation, and rapid throughput assays. She has extensive expertise in leading investigations on biological samples of tissues, cells, and biological fluids by metabolomics, lipidomics, glycomics, and proteomics, using a broad range of mass spectrometers and sources. Dr. Angel has developed mass spectrometry methods increasing sensitivity of protein detection from tissues cells and fluids, identifying signaling lipids in negative mode, targeted metabolomics for tissues, cells, biopolymers, and screening assays, extracellular matrix protein detection in clinically archived FFPE tissues, and N-glycomic strategies for proteins, cells, tissues and biofluids. Dr. Angel was a co-founder of Glycopath, a company focusing on glycosylation patterns as a prognostic or diagnostic tool which was later sold to Bruker Corporation.
